Looking for the best Italian skiing resort for partying​​? Well, it is none other than Sauze d’Oulx! Pronounced as ‘Sau-zee doox’, Sauze d’Oulx perched high in the Susa valley full of larch forests sloping down from the surrounding mountains is famous amongst young party fans. 30 years ago, it was more a pub hub than a piste pack.

Today, the move has now been to the snowy landscape from its rocking pubs due to which even families and young professionals come here for a weekend break. The charming Italian village is famous for both party spirit and snow adventures. It has an alluring cobbled centre although much of the area is full of block buildings.

Skiing in Sauze d’Oulx

Accessible by four points around the hamlet through chair lifts and ski bus, the Sauze d’Oulx resort is on a steep hillside. While there are opportunities for beginners and advanced skiers, the intermediates are the one to enjoy here the most.

Beginners start from a nursery slope at Clotes chair-lift’s foot and Sportina as a nursery area accessible through a quad chairlift taking you to half way up the mountain.

For the intermediates, the terrain is vast with Sestrière’s famous slopes, long reds from Fratieve to Sansicario, and the Milky Way link in favorable snow conditions by skiing to Sansicario, accessing unskiable chairlift link over Cesana, skiing on the oldest Italian ski centre Clavière, and finally over the boundary to Montgenèvre in France.

The Milky Way is a vast area with 66 lifts serving 400km pistes on the Via Lattea Internazionale pass.

For the experts, a few off-piste routes exist amongst the lower slopes’ larch woods as well as in the higher powder bowls. Many off piste routes tend to descend 1300m to the valley from Fratieve, which a guide can make you explore. The local slopes extend across a forested mountainside.

Snowboarding

A terrain park with jumps, pipe, and rails exist here to fascinate you. The diverse landscape full of natural features makes this village ideal for boarders. Expert boarders take please in off piste opportunities in the woods of lower slopes or wide open runs atop the area.

Entertainment

Without spending much, you can easily get a delicious treat in the form of eating out and entertainment, as the prices of just 33% of those in the leading French resorts. Ski après starts with live music in Sportina’s Capanna Mollino and rocks until the Village café.

Later on, you can move Osteria dei Vagabondi to continue to immerse in live music. If you are older and love jazz, the Cotton Club is certainly the best choice for Acid Jazz amidst a British pub-like atmosphere. Other options include the Max Bar with live football, Paddy McGintys featuring an Irish theme, Ghostbar, Miravallino with a tearoom in quiet ambiance, and Moncrons offering cocktails.

For a disco delight, discothèques such as Banditos and Schuss are simply rocking.
