Taking a Cruise through Italy

Cruising to Italy is one of the ways you can consider visiting this wonderful country and its breathtaking landscapes. Being on board of the ship you are offered with another perspective of touring this country as it happens with any of the cruises.

You can either sail on a yacht or take your tour with any of the local cruise lines that can offer a great touristic experience.

The Western Mediterranean is the part of the sea where the cruise takes place when you can be enchanted with the long hours that you can spend on the deck enjoying the breeze at night for a good cool off.

Depending on your time you have two options for this cruising: either go for long voyages or short sailing in Italy. Regardless which of these alternatives you choose, you will be welcomed with a warm hospitality that will last throughout the entire cruise.

Expedia.com is a good place to start with when you plan to take a cruise to Italy. You will find numerous such cruising companies offering their packages while the prices can be quite affordable in these days.

It doesn’t compare to the costs involved in a travel that is taken by car where the costs for gas and roads tolls are quite high. Why not choose to cruise to Italy and save more money for souvenirs as you will have plenty to choose from.

Not to mention that while being on board of the ship you will have lots of options on how to spend the time, from cinemas, theaters, casinos, discos, pubs and restaurants to relaxing at the swimming pool, or in the spa center with fitness, sauna, solarium or other wellness activities, playing bowling, and much more.

Do not think that with a cruise you will be only on board of the ship since many of these ships will stop at the major ports located along the Mediterranean Sea. Some of these ones are: Capri, Portofino, Sardinia, Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo, Messina or Catania, Bari, Venice and others. You just need to choose the destinations you are interested in visiting and then just look for such a cruise ship that has your itinerary included.

While being on board you will be offered with entertainment programs along with meals that are tailored to your taste and needs. If you want to experience delicacies of Mediterranean cuisine, you will have the chance to do this on board or while stopping at some of the ports.

Yachts and sailing boats

If you are skilled with sailing techniques you can as well opt for yachting in Italy as you have a wide range of private yachts to choose from. They are modern and equipped with anything that you may need while being at the sea. You can also rent a yacht yourself, with or without captain depending on your sailing experiences and knowledge.

Where to find yachts and boats to rent?

There are plenty of websites where you can find the yacht for your holidays in Italy. I found a website theglobesailor.com that looks quite fine to me. Just browse through the offers and find the one that suits you the most.

Ferries

And if you just wish to get some new experience on the board of some of the biggest ships and don’t have enough money to spend few nights on cruise ship, than choosing some ferry would be a perfect solution for you.

You can check ferries.it or ok-ferry.com which include major Italian ferry companies to find your best route and price.

One of my best travel experiences with ferries was when I took a train from Rome to Messina (Sicily) and the whole train boarded onto ferry which transferred the train from Italian mainland to the island of Sicily. The price for such train ticket was less than 30,-EUR and it also included a ferry fees. 🙂

If you are planning your next trip to Italy book hotels, flights, rental cars at best price guaranteed!
