The wall of the cave features a hole which diameter is just 1 and half meters, and through the hole the sunlight falls into the water of the Blue Grotto. However, the hole is large enough and a small rowboat can easily get into the cave through it.

Interestingly, there is another hole just below the small one, and it is large in size. Sunlight entering through the larger hole reflects on the bottom of the cave, just below the water line. Both reflections give rise to an amazing blue effect, which is a pleasure to the eyes.

In case you are thinking wow to get inside it, then all you have to do is hire a small wooden boat. Since the entrance, or rather say the hole is really small, therefore only small boats will be able to get inside it.

In fact, when entering the cave, tourists have to lay flat on their back so as to save their head from hitting the rock.

Nevertheless, once you get inside the Blue Grotto cave, you will figure out that the space is large enough. It is important to note that during high tides or when the waves are high then it becomes difficult to get inside the case as the boat can hardly fit through the entrance.

Considering the fact that it is not possible to get inside the cave during high tides, you can definitely expect traffic jams to happen during the peak season. Yes, during peak season a lot of tourists come up with small boats to enter the cave, and everyone has to wait for their turn to come. But, it is definitely a wonderful experience.
