Most beautiful places to visit in Veneto

Veneto is the region characterized by the Dolomites, Lake Garda, Euganean Hills, flat swamps and lowlands of the Po, the Adige, and other small rivers, but also spectacular ancient cities, including Verona, Vicenza, Padua and Venice, of course. The region is still a traditional destination for tourists from all over Europe.

Here you can find the cultures of Etruscans, Greeks and Romans, but can also admire the distinctive Gothic architecture in Venice. Dolomites extend to the northern part of the Veneto region. That is where you will find famous mountain ski resorts. Find accommodation and hotels in Veneto:  book_hotel_2 travel via italy

Veneto, the territory of the former Venetian Republic, lies in the northeast of North Italian Plain, stretches from the flow of Po river up to the Venetian Alps. In the west it is bordered by Lago di Garda and the valley of the river Mincio, and in the east by Adriatic Sea, the coast is flat with lots of long sandy beaches. Center of the region is Venice, a unique city built in the Venetian lagoon comprising of 118 islands and laced with hundreds of channels. Their banks are connected to each other with around 400 mainly stone bridges.

Venice and the Veneto region are at first sight incongruous pair. While Venice is largely a tourist town offering countless opportunities for romantic walks, the Veneto region is a symbol of progressive and modern development in Europe.

Veneto offers in addition to interesting sights and cities numerous recreation opportunities and seaside resorts (Lido di Venezia, Lido di Jesolo, Caorle, Belluno) and sports activities on land, both in water and in the mountains (e.g. Cortina d’Ampezzo). Thanks to long sandy beaches and accommodation of all categories Veneto is one of the most visited regions of Italy.
